Scripture for today

The Message 1 Samuel 3:11-14 God said to Samuel, "Listen carefully. I'm getting ready to do something in Israel that is going to shake everyone up and get their attention. The time has come for me to bring down on Eli's family everything I warned him of, every last word of it. I'm letting him know that the time's up. I'm bringing judgment on his family for good. He knew what was going on, that his sons were desecrating God's name and God's place, and he did nothing to stop them. This is my sentence on the family of Eli: The evil of Eli's family can never be wiped out by sacrifice or offering."

One of the worst diseases I have found out taking place in our world now is OVER INDULGENCE. You might wonder what it means. Over indulgence means "excessive gratification of a person's wishes". I see this disease majorly among children and adults. We have a generation where discipline or the ability to take rejection is not found. Do you know the issue with Eli and his children is over indulgence? When you as a parent can't stand right on what you believe in and rebuke your children for any wrong they must have done then you are over indulging them. 

I thank God for my African parents, I never had all the things I wanted in life. My parents will be only gracious enough to give you exactly what you need and nothing extra.  My parents were super strict with resources given to me, I didn't even remember having a bicycle because all my parents gave me were books. I had play time but we had to make our resources by ourselves. You have to work hard and earn any fancy thing you wanted. I must say it really helped me in life. I enjoyed my childhood and have sweet memories. 

Parents, discipline your kids. Don't give them just everything they need because they are crying for it, crying doesn't kill a child. Overindulgence gets us into a whole lot of carelessness and bad attitude later in life. Over indulged child give birth and train up over indulged children too. Our children should be given the best but they should understand the principle of labour. You work hard at something and you get what you want, simple!!! 

Prayer: Father, help me not to overindulge my offspring.
