THINGS YOU SHOULD REMEMBER WHEN THE WAIT IS EXHAUSTING

Scripture for today

2 Peter 3:8 ASV
But forget not this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

In our microwave, fast moving generation the last thing we want to hear is wait!. As humans we want to do what we want, when we want it and how we want it.  With the fast growing Internet access and use,  we get to see people showcasing their perfect lives.
Perfect houses, marriage, relationship, jobs etc. At a point you begin to wonder what is wrong with you. Why is your life not like that of all of your school mates, family and friends? You ask yourself. You begin to question God's wisdom and PROMISE in your life. You tell him how much your missing out on what you think you need.

Waiting can be painful, it is tiring and so annoying. Imagine having to wait for a bus when you can simply take a cab ride home. The bus will definitely save you more money but you can't just wait. Imagine the pain of waiting for your food to arrive in a restaurant , most of us get so furious at the waiter because we just want our need to be met immediately at that moment.  So it applies to every area of our lives.  We want our jobs, relationship, marriage even our ministry to go our direction.  When things don't match our proposed plan for ourselves. We begin to question if God is still God and His words true.

1. Waiting transforms.  The process of waiting comes with sacrifices to make.
Isaiah 40:31 ASV
but they that wait for Jehovah shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.
Waiting transforms you from an ordinary person to a person who does extraordinary things. Imagine running and never getting tired because you run with the strength of the Father. Your strength for life will be renewed, you think and act differently.

2. Waiting reveals. So many of us have seen how much time reveals.  Waiting can reveal both our strength and weaknesses. It reveals the true intentions of our heart. Have you ever seen a person who you seem to doubt his or her motive for some actions or advice. Just test it with time patiently you will find out the truth. Some of us have true motives but we seem not to be patient enough because we feel we are running out of time.
2 Peter 3:8 ASV
But forget not this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
God is not controlled by our human time.

3. Waiting on God makes us totally dependent on Him.  We see him as our only present help always.  At this moment you have tried all that you can do humanly possible to help yourself.  You find out that your human strength and knowledge will always fail, but the word of God stands forever.

The time of waiting should be devoted to prayers and studying of God's word.
Psalm 130:5 ASV
I wait for Jehovah, my soul doth wait, And in his word do I hope.
Reassuring ourselves everyday that God's words are true and he never lies.  When we need something and we ask of our Father, lets learn to patiently wait on him for he knows the best for us. There is greater glory in waiting on Him.

Prayer: Father, help me wait even when it's exhausting.
