Scripture for today

The Message Genesis 2:23-25 The Man said, "Finally! Bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh! Name her Woman for she was made from Man." Therefore a man leaves his father and mother and embraces his wife. They become one flesh. The two of them, the Man and his Wife, were naked, but they felt no shame.

Why do you want to get married? That's a question most singles find hard to answer. I used to be one of them!! So I understand what I am saying that the question is really tough to answer. One thing we need to understand is that all our relationships are a reflection of what is really going on within us. It is a reflection of your personal relationship with yourself. Many of us think that life is only what we make of it, it is beyond that it is what you do with it. Many of us lack a good relationship with ourselves because we made a silly mistake, or simply because of the pains we have had in our short stay here on earth. We therefore approach our relationships like that, we approach it based on our yesterday's lack or our perceived future pain. 

There are many reasons why we want to get married, some just can't stand eating alone, watching TV alone or just sleeping alone. Some of us want to get married because we want to have sexual expressions. Some of us just want to have children and people to care for us when we are old. Some of us want to get married because we need financial security, some because it's socially acceptable that they get married, some out of pressure. Some of us out of over romanticism, some of us out of thoughts that our mate will never hurt us.. 

Marriage is deep, it is spiritual, it is more than all these reasons you may have, it is a walk till eternity. I just want us all to check our motives and reasons, can they stand the rainy day, the winter, or even the harsh harmattan of the northern Nigeria.. 

Prayer: Father, help me realize truthfully what marriage is about.
