31 SCRIPTURES FOR YOUR RELATIONSHIP

11:26 am

Prayer is a powerful ingredient that changes things. In any relationship where prayer is missing things are bound to go wrong. How often do you pray for your relationship or marriage. These are scriptures that will open your eyes to specific areas you need to pray about.

Love

1 Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

1 Corinthians 12: 4-7 4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails.

Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, baring with one another in love.

John 4:19 We love because He first loved us.

John 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

1 John 3:18 Let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth.

Colossians 3:14 Most of all, let love guide your life. // Wear love everywhere you go.
For this verse I found two diffferent translations, but I love them both equally so y'all got both.

Romans 12:9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

Prayer: Lord, help me love you foremost, him second, and myself last.  You are the prime example of how love is and how love should be.  Let our love for each other and You never run dry, but continue to grow each day.  Help me take these verses and strive to live them out to the fullest, loving deeply, fully and sincerely.

 Anger

James 1:19 My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to get angry.

Proverbs 14:29 The one who is slow to anger has great understanding, but the one who has a quick temper exalts folly.

Ecclesiastes 7:9 Be not quick in your spirit to become angry, for anger lodges in the bosom of fools.

Colossians 3:8, 12-13 But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

Proverbs 29:11 A fool always loses his temper, But a wise man holds it back.

Prayer: Lord you know how I am quick to anger, but I know that this is not how you want me to live.  Help me take in the verses, and lean on You to become slow to anger and even quicker to forgive.  I know that when I am quick to anger it is prideful and is not furthering our relationship but preventing it from growing.  Give me the strength to bite me tongue and instead of getting mad easily, clothe me in the fruits of the spirit: patience, forgiveness, humility, and kindness.

Forgiveness

Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive other their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

1 Corinthians 13:5 [Love] keeps no record of wrongs.

Prayer: Lord help me to forgive him.  But not only to say I forgive him, but to fully and completely forgive keeping no record of wrong.  To where forgiving means forgetting and not holding it against him any longer, ever again.  Help me to remember that you've already forgiven me (and all of mankind) for the greatest sin of all, and if you forgive something much larger then I can forgive smaller things here on Earth.

Encouragement

1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as your are doing.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Prayer: God give me the words to encourage him and not to cut him down.  Help me to choose words wisely uplifting him and building him up, and never talking down to him.  Lead us both to you when we are fearful or worried, and know that within You, and not ourselves or the ways of the world, will we find encouragement and strength.

Commitment

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Romas 12:10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Matthew 19:6 Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.

Prayer: In today's world it is easy to falter or stray, but help us both to stay strong and faithful.  Let us cling to each other and Your word when times get tough, not letting this world tempt us.  Lord, keep us faithful to each other, honoring each other above ourselves.

For the future

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your aways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Phillipians 2:1-6  Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.  5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage.

Prayer: Lord, you know that these verses are nearest to my heart right now.  Help me cling to these verses to get me through this time apart, and trust in Your timing and plan.  Keep my faith strong in the words above, and don't let doubt cloud my thoughts.

Purity

Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. 11 But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.

Prayer: Lord help us to abstain from sexual sins.  Give us strength not to give in to this desire to explore our bodies sexually.  Help us to keep our bed undefiled until our marriage.
