TAKING GOD'S PRESENCE FOR GRANTED

Scripture for today

2 Samuel 6:6-7 ASV
And when they came to the threshing-floor of Nacon, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen stumbled. And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

Do we really blame Uzzah?  The ark of covenant has been in his house for a very long time so he has gotten used to it, he saw it as a helpless box people say is carrying God's presence. He walked so close to the ark of covenant so he could guard and make sure it was safe. So many of us are just like Uzzah. We have gotten so used to the church thingy, the prayer and fasting has become a practice and our walk with God is more of a religious activity than it is a relationship. I remember being once like that. I have been at that point before, I felt because I was born into a Christian home made me born again. I have always heard the word of God and I have been to a lot of prayer programs, there is always a daily devotion in the house which I felt that meant I spent quality time with God.  I later discovered that I was wrong all the way.

People of God, nothing can be compared to the relationship with God. God's word is new every morning, study it, pray and wait upon him because he is our love and friend. It's a dangerous thing to get to that point where we get too used to God's presence and his works and take it for granted.

Prayer: Father, help me never to take your presence for granted.

  1. Great message. It cannot be overemphasized. Nothing can be compared to our relationship with God.
