Scripture for today

1 Samuel 15:23 ASV

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim. Because thou hast rejected the word of Jehovah, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. I remember many times I have been rebellious in the past. I find it very difficult to submit to choleric people. I wasn't raised in an atmosphere where someone pushed me around so I hate being pushed around, I hate when someone tries to be unreasonable and impose their decisions on me. So I kind of had issues with my choleric leaders or team heads. I wanted things done in a calm and very easy way. I hated too much  pressure therefore I would rather run back to my shell as my way of protesting. 

One day the Lord brought this Scripture to light in my heart. I knew immediately that I was doing wrong by rebelling. God has called us to a life of obedience first to God and then to our earthly leaders. God puts some people in our lives so that they teach us that obedience sometimes doesn't have to be sweet or enjoyable. It doesn't always have to be a pleasurable experience. It is a decision. 

In my walk with God I have come to realize that my walk with him doesn't always come easy. Sometimes I badly want to have my way. I say that obedience isn't easy that's why it takes a heart with a lot of trust to totally obey God. We as Christians need to understand that obeying God is not a thing that is done out of a heart that doesn't totally rely and lean upon him. 

Prayer: Father, help me to be obedient. Never to be rebellious.
