Proverbs 24:6 AMPC

For by wise counsel you can wage your war, and in an abundance of counselors there is victory and safety.

Have you ever gotten to a point in your life when you feel you don't need any counsel from anyone? You think you know it all and have it all figured out. You know so much and you have great knowledge which you feel can see you through every situation. I remember when a young man proposed marriage to me. We got talking and when I asked him questions about meeting elderly people for counsel, he said he doesn't believe in all of that. I asked if he will read books to gain knowledge about marriage but he said he doesn't believe in that too. That rang a bell in my head. It is only a foolish person that will neglect Godly counsel especially from people who are older or spirit led.

Let's not confuse counsel with control, control is when older ones or people want to enforce their will on you. One of the things that made David stand out in his generation is that he was always had the counsel of Ahithopel at all times. God's word is our ultimate counsel, God's spirit leads us on the right path too if we are willing to surrender ourselves.  If you are in tempting times be around people who lead you to God and make you look and your situation critically. Seek counsel young people at all times, allow God to lead you and also entrust yourself and your decisions to older mentors.

Prayer: Father, help me seek counsel always.
