SELF HELP IS NO HELP AT ALL

Scripture for today
Zechariah 4:6 AMP
Then he said to me, This [addition of the bowl to the candlestick, causing
it to yield a ceaseless supply of oil from the olive trees] is the word of the
Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit [of
Whom the oil is a symbol], says the Lord of hosts.
You know that look you have when you hear a fellow believer say I don’t
know how to really pray, I am struggling with this sin or that sin. And you who
have been strong in that aspect and you give them that condescending look. It might
sound like they are not yet saved, or are just so gullible to temptations. The thing
is that we fail to remember the times when we couldn’t pray for 30 minutes, the
times when the Christian life felt so alien and you had to struggle through everything.
You know just like the scripture said, it’s not by your power neither is it by your
might.
It is never by our power that we are able to live a life of righteousness; it
is not even by our own self ability to resist temptation that we are able to stand
the terrible times. It is not realistic to be lying to ourselves about how we
can help ourselves because we know it’s not possible to do it all alone. We need
the power of God to enable us. 2 Cor.1:9 Self help is no help at all. We are
not to trust in our power in our ability to do it all alone it will certainly
fail us. Let’s look up to God who is our sufficiency.
Prayer: Father, I know I can’t do it all alone. See me through the journey.
