FORGIVENESS

Scripture For Today
Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
I know a lady who has been divorced for 6years now but has allowed the betrayal of her former husband to consume her. She now lives her live in contempt of all men. He used to beat her at the slightest provocation; she lost a pregnancy on one of those occasions and after that never took in. He also was having an affair, where he got the other woman pregnant and opted to marry the other lady. On this ground she got a divorce. No children from the marriage, a man she gave her all to, not holding back anything; hmmmm what a betrayal! She never bargained for this, she was loving, she never did wrong. She has held so much grudge in her heart all these year; her life has been on standstill up until now.
Life in itself throws punches that hurt so bad. People you love betray your trust with no regard and no remorse; what could be your wrong? You don't deserve it.
Fortunately our Father has told us to "let it go". Forgive those who have wronged you because that's the quickest and only sure way to be free from hurt.
So many young people are angry against parents who abandoned them, spouses that left them after so much wait to be married, friends who betrayed them, men whom they trusted and who promised to wait till the wedding night but were raped.
What forgiveness does is it takes the hurt and gives it to Jesus to carry while you go about living your life anew. Like a woman who attends a wedding party with her husband and in the mood of happiness tells her husband to carry her hand-bag while she goes to dance with the bride and groom.
Decide to let go, so you can go about your life release yourself from the bondage of that hurt.
Prayer: Father, today I let go of every hurt from the past.

Most time it's more easily to forgive but the problem is forgetting. May God give us the grace to forget and not only forgive. Thanks gabby
ReplyDeleteSometimes we just have to let go and live our our lives. Being held back by the past is unhealthy indeed. Many thanks for sharing and nice week!
ReplyDeleteIt's super easy to say 'forgive' but then again, you remember that God forgives us millions of times. I feel so sorry for the woman in the story, she shouldn't hold on to the pain but move on.
ReplyDeleteNew on this blog. Interesting article you've got here.
