MY BIG CHOP
11:51 amFunny face time. Lol |
I never knew some years ago I could make such a life transforming decision. I remember putting up a post about how embracing what you have will make it better. I remember having very scanty and annoying hair I wasn't so proud of it until I began to embrace it. Read the full story Here..
So it happened that I began to really enjoy my hair journey but I wasn't so satified. I wanted to go natural, I desired it. I even dreamt about it but I was wondering how I would look without my hair that I had spent a lot on to get to where it was. I started first by transitioning for sometime, transitioning was tough on me. I couldn't just deal with the whole texture thing.
One faithful day, after my weekly wash which is obviously conditioning and deep conditioning I made a decision to chop off the hair. Truth is, it has been a decision I dreaded for a long time but I knew deep down inside me I had to let go.
Last length check in May before big chop in August |
So I took my hair cutting scissors and chopped it off. I did it myself so the plea of people around me wouldn't make me change my mind. I love me for this decision, I wig it most times because of work but once am home I throw away my wig and embrace this beauty.
Funny face queen.. |
Moral of the above chronicle: some things in life need to die so better and more beautiful things will grow. Don't be afraid of letting go of things even some you have worked so hard to get to where it is. Letting go will help you embrace your other side of beauty and self discovery. Life is a journey don't be afraid to take risks.
What is that decision you dread so much, you don't want to take it because you are so afraid. People have tried severally to talk you out of that decision but it wouldn't be fair to yourself if you keep dwelling in self denial. Do what is good for you.
Have a blessed week

I once to myself Knowing when to let go is a tool for new beginnings. Holding-on too tightly to ideologies, Norms and things we love so much could deny us of bigger and better things God has in store for us. Even the Bible tells us to release what we have that we can gain them more. Thanks for this post
