BAD SELF IMAGE

Scripture for today
2 Samuel 9:8 (Msg) Shuffling and stammering, not looking him in the eye, Mephibosheth said, "Who am I that you pay attention to a stray dog like me?"
Mephibosheth had a very poor image of himself. He had been living in a place called LO-DEBAR which meant pasture less. He saw his entire family members being wiped out so he had no one else but himself. To add salt to injury, all that his father or even his grandfather possessed were taken away. He had nothing. He was crippled and he certainly was not a choice person to stand before a king. LO-DEBAR where he had been dwelling too didn't have a good effect on his confidence because it was a place where nothing good had come out from. I think he was a little right when he referred to himself as a STRAY DOG. He had a poor self image, he kind of had the right to have that bad image because of all the terrible things life had thrown at him.
Mephibosheth was imperfect he had all the flaws our fingers can count but God choose to remember him anyways. He had a terrible past but God still remembered him and showed him Favour through David. The Bible said that he dwelled in Jerusalem and ate at the Kings table all his life even through he was lame in both feet (2 Samuel 9:13). Everything his father and his grandfather had were given back to him with even servants. He had a son too named Micha (2 Samuel 9:9-13). God takes all our weaknesses, all our faults, all our mess and makes something beautiful out of it.
Prayer: Father, thank you for being a caring father who loves me despite all that life throws at me.
