Scripture for today

2 Samuel 11:1 AMPC

IN THE spring, when kings go forth to battle, David sent Joab with his servants and all Israel, and they ravaged the Ammonites [country] and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.

We are going to take a walk through the extramarital affair of David and see lessons we can lean from there as singles. David was a great king he had fought so many battles and remained victorious. He came into limelight when he conquered the giant. He was famous for being the giant killer 1 Samuel 17:49 and even when he became king he won so many battles, he was victorious in all ways possible. His walk with God was so on point. He was a praiser and worshipper, David was one man who danced until his clothes where torn. So he was that crazy about God. You can read from 1 Samuel 17- 2 Samuel  to know more about him. After all the might victories why did David fall into adultery and which led to so many other chaos in his life?

From 2 Samuel 11:1, I got to realize that one of the mistakes he made was to feel he needed to rest from battles. He had won so many battles so why fight again when he had trained people around him enough to do it. We as believers sometimes get to that point where we feel God has given victory over sexual sins or lust in the past so we don't see the need to fight it again. We might have come to the point where we know all the strategies that work and we do not bother fighting so hard again. The life of a Christian is a life of constant battles for control so we are not to relax (Ephesians 6:10-18) Our adversary the devil never rests so we are not to rest in our fight again sin especially sexual sins. Let's not take any season in our lives for granted.

Prayer: Father, help me never to get to that point where I take my walk with you for granted
