Scripture for today

The Message 2 Chronicles 25:1-3 Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king and reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother was Jehoaddin from Jerusalem. He lived well before God, doing the right thing for the most part. But he wasn't wholeheartedly devoted to God. When he had the affairs of the kingdom well in hand, he executed the palace guard who had assassinated his father the king. 

Brother John is a devoted church member, he was always at every church gathering. He never missed prayer meeting or Bible study. He always went for evangelism with the church everyone loves Brother John he seem to be a true child of God but deep down brother John knows he is working hard so his pastor will notice his good works and anoint him as a minister in the church. To us on the outside John seem to be hard working hard for God and loves him so much but deep down we know that John has been doing it all with the wrong motive. Beyond everything else God can't be fooled. He can't be fooled or bought over by outward works because he knows your very motive even before you do something. 

When we are giving to others he checks our motives, when we pray for others he checks our motives, when we attend church functions he also checks our motives. I remember one time when I would go to church just because I didn't want my then president to ask what made me not be in church. See, I loved the Lord but I was always going into his presence with the wrong heart.. Your heart has to be right before God. When you ask God for forgiveness it has to be with the right heart. When you praise it has to be with the right heart, as a believer I can say your spiritual heart is the most important aspect of your spiritual journey. 

Prayer:Father, help me have the right heart always.
