Scripture for today

The Message Matthew 11:2-6 John, meanwhile, had been locked up in prison. When he got wind of what Jesus was doing, he sent his own disciples to ask, "Are you the One we've been expecting, or are we still waiting?"  Jesus told them, "Go back and tell John what's going on: The blind see, The lame walk, Lepers are cleansed, The deaf hear, The dead are raised, The wretched of the earth learn that God is on their side. "Is this what you were expecting? Then count yourselves most blessed!"

The fight against John the Baptist was the fight for his faith. So many of us remember that John the Baptist baptized Jesus and there was a loud voice from heaven, which was a confirmation to the ministry of John. (Mark 1:1-11) It is certain that John who was the forerunner of Jesus was very aware of God's promise which  has been fulfilled right before his eyes. What baffles me is the fact that John himself doubted when the going got really tough for him. His faith in God's promise and word was shaken because he seems to be getting more than he bargained for. I think John was thinking Jesus would come to the prison and rescue him. His faith was shaken and he wasn't sure of what he believed again. Permit me to say this. John's faith failed due to uncomfortable situations. 

Faith failure is worse than heart failure says Pastor Paul Enenche. Being faithless or losing faith as a believer is like death. The just shall live by faith that what the Word of God says. Imagine when you loose your faith due to the circumstances around you. We have to fight the good fight of faith Jude 1:3.

Don't let situations make you doubt your convictions, don't reverse what you have declared loudly because things seem not to working out,  don't doubt your gifts and callings because you are being persecuted. God is in control and he is true to his word, He is always true don't loose faith, stay strong!!! 

Prayer : Father, may I never loose faith in you.
