Scripture for today

Matthew 19:7-8 (KJV) 

[7] They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? [8] He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. 

How many of us singles reading this devotional today want to be married, can I see your hands? Wow! so many of us. Then the important things need to be understood. 

 Marriage was originally designed to be beautiful; forgiveness, loving like Christ did, compromise, sacrifice, submission, patience. We are not to follow our own will in marriage but God's principle are the basic principles that needs to be enshrined on our hearts. 

 I remember many a times i tell people close to me, whenever they are trying to make a life changing decision, or even when they are stuck at a cross road;  "do not make a decision based on how you feel". This is the bible tells us is true in Proverbs 16:9 it says " A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps". 

I know we want to get married and no one prays to be divorced afterwards, but our heart often times leads us to that point. 

God didn't design divorce; Moses used his permisive will to allow it because of the hardness of their hearts then. ( Matt. 19:8)

Jesus basically exposes that our marriage can be influenced by our heart. As it was written that the mouth speaks from the intents of the heart: we can only exhibit what our heart has thought, rehearse and processed. 

Your actions shows what your heart is like. In Nigeria for instance, many Single Christian men proclaim christ and His word even about marriage: unfortunately when decisions are being made in marriage, you would begin to hear things like "that is how our father's did it". 

I implore you today, be a SWEET HEART allow God's dictates for marriage take its stand in your heart, your thoughts needs to be continuously guided, and I promise you a wonderful time in your marital years. God bless you.

Prayer: Father, help me work on my heart and guide it according to your will.
