Scripture for today

1 Corinthians 15:41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory. (ESV)

We are different in our own way, we are all different from the other person. The world makes us feel that being different is not cool they feel we should act in a certain kind of way or do things in a kind of way  that is approved by everybody. There is a constant pressure to fit into status quo. Permit me to tell you that Christians don't go by status quo. They are to be rooted in the word of God. 

God created you different from me, he made me in a kind of special way which is absolutely different from the way he made you. He has a purpose for that! Our greatest struggle is the struggle to be ourselves when the world is pressurizing us to do things differently. Each of us have a particularly need we meet in every area of life. When we struggle to be like others we lose ourselves in the process. There is no longer that spice you bring to mind when someone thinks about you.

My favorite quote as a teenager was "Be yourself". I had it written on the wall in my bunk space in the hostel. I had it written on almost every book I had. It was a serious watch word for me. Look friends! I gained some enemies and also some friends. I had some lonely times when I had no one else but me, alas! it paid off.  We are taught in Romans 12 about our gifts, our gifts distinguishes us for future success. We are different parts working in one body for a great and glorious future ahead.

Prayer: Father, I understand you created me to be different. Help me shine my light wherever I find myself. May I not struggle to fit into status quo.
